Channing Tatum made a surprise appearance in the recent Deadpool & Wolverine movie and fans were thrilled to see him take on the role of Gambit, a character he has been eager to play for over a decade. His portrayal of Gambit brought some much-needed comic relief to the film, along with some impressive fight scenes that he trained hard for.
Despite his previous attempts to bring a Gambit movie to life, the project was ultimately canceled in 2019 after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox. However, Tatum has not given up hope on the idea of a Gambit Marvel film. During a recent red carpet event for his latest film, Blink Twice, Tatum expressed his desire for a Gambit movie to become a reality, stating, “I sure hope so.”
Tatum and his producing partner, Reid Carolin, have been working on developing a Gambit project for years, and the actor has shown his gratitude to Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy for bringing the character to the big screen in Deadpool & Wolverine. Tatum’s appreciation for the opportunity to portray Gambit was evident in his social media posts, where he thanked Reynolds and Levy for fighting for him and the character.
The actor described his experience watching Deadpool & Wolverine as a “masterpiece” and expressed his joy and excitement for being a part of the film. Despite the challenges and setbacks he faced in getting a Gambit movie off the ground, Tatum remains hopeful that the project will eventually come to fruition.
