GuideWell’s EVP, Medicare & Chief Innovation Officer Leads Efforts to Combat Cardiovascular Disease on the First Coast

In an effort to tackle the prevalent issue of cardiovascular disease on the First Coast, Camille Harrison, the executive vice president of Medicare and chief innovation and experience officer at GuideWell, has taken on a significant role in leading the American Heart Association’s First Coast Heart Challenge. With cardiovascular disease being a leading cause of death in the region, Harrison is determined to make a difference and save lives through this community campaign.

Taking on the chair position for the 2024-2025 First Coast Heart Challenge, Harrison aims to engage local companies, corporations, and their employees in the fight against heart disease and stroke. Having witnessed the impact of heart disease within her own family, Harrison is passionate about improving health outcomes, raising awareness, and enhancing education in the community. She expressed her dedication by stating, “Heart disease claims far too many lives on the First Coast and beyond, and like most people, I have seen its impact within my own family. I am passionate about enhancing health outcomes, education, and awareness in our community, and I am honored to lead these efforts alongside the American Heart Association.”

As the chair of the Heart Challenge, Harrison will work with a team of 22 First Coast executives to encourage companies and organizations to participate in various initiatives such as the Heart Walk, Field Day, and Executives with Heart. Through these initiatives, the leadership team and supporting organizations will raise funds for the American Heart Association while facilitating conversations about employee health, corporate engagement, community health, and community transformation.

Buck Smoak, the director of business development at Auld & White Constructors, has been appointed as the chair of Executives with Heart, a program that focuses on engaging corporate leaders to make meaningful contributions to support the American Heart Association’s 2024 Impact Goal. Caitlin Brunell, the executive director for the American Heart Association First Coast, expressed gratitude for the dedicated leaders stepping up to combat heart disease and stroke. She emphasized the potential impact of the Heart Challenge initiatives in driving employee engagement, corporate fundraising, and ultimately saving lives on the First Coast.

Heart disease and stroke are largely preventable conditions, and lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise, and stress management play a crucial role in maintaining heart health. The Heart Challenge provides resources, tools, and activities to support both the physical and mental well-being of employees and employers, emphasizing the importance of holistic health approaches.
