Cardiac arrest is a serious issue that affects many people in the Coachella Valley. The American Heart Association is taking action to improve survival rates through their annual Coachella Valley Heart and Stroke Walk campaign. This campaign focuses on raising funds for research, increasing CPR education, and promoting overall heart health in the community.

Mona Babauta, the 2024 Heart and Stroke Walk Chair, is leading the charge to get local businesses involved in the walk. By participating in this event, companies can not only support the fight against heart disease and stroke but also contribute to the larger Nation of Lifesavers™ movement. This movement aims to double survival rates of cardiac arrest by 2030 and ensure that more people are prepared to perform CPR in emergency situations.

The ultimate goal of the Heart and Stroke Walk is to create a community of lifesavers in the Coachella Valley. By encouraging more people to learn CPR and be ready to act in a cardiac emergency, lives can be saved. The walk will take place on November 9, 2024, at Palm Desert Civic Center Park, and is sponsored by several local organizations.

The American Heart Association has been a leader in resuscitation science and education for over 60 years. Through initiatives like the Nation of Lifesavers, they are working to empower bystanders to become lifesavers in emergency situations. By increasing CPR education, promoting AED use, and engaging with employers and policymakers, the Association is making strides towards a world where everyone is prepared to perform CPR when needed.
